Margaret Engel is a founding partner of Compensation Advisory Partners LLC (CAP) specializing in executive compensation. Margaret works with compensation committees and management teams to design executive compensation strategies, annual incentive plans and long-term incentive plans. She has extensive experience working with companies facing performance challenges and developing appropriate incentives for improvements in business performance. Margaret splits her time between CAP’s New York and Houston offices.
Margaret has over 25 years of executive compensation consulting experience. She has designed and validated executive compensation strategies for companies in a wide range of industries, including retail, apparel, consumer brands, technology and telecom. She also provides compensation assistance for a variety of corporate transactions, including initial public offerings, mergers, and spin-offs.
Margaret was named to the National Association of Corporate Director’s Directorship 100 for her contribution and influence in board rooms. She is a regular speaker on executive compensation and is quoted in leading publications of the business press. Margaret’s long-term incentive plan design for a Fortune 100 company won a GEO award for “Most Innovative and Creative Plan Design” in 2013.
Prior to joining CAP, Margaret was a principal in Mercer’s Human Capital practice for eleven years. Prior to joining Mercer, Margaret was a member of KPMG’s Performance & Compensation consulting practice.
Margaret earned a BA in American Studies from Yale University.
